(het lichaam zwijgt)

 

het lichaam zwijgt.

het lichaam weigert uit te ademen,

schuimbekt. golven slaan

tegen het gehemelte,

alsof er nog nooit iemand

in de zee gelegen heeft,

naar de wolken keek en zei:

dit is wat ik wil worden.

dit wil ik zijn als het donker wordt.

(the body is silent)

 

the body is silent.

the body refuses to exhale,

froths at the mouth. waves beat

against the roof of the mouth

as if nobody has ever

lain in the shallows,

looked up at the clouds, and said:

this is what I want to be.

I want to be like this when it gets dark.

le corps se tait.

le corps refuse de respirer,

écume de rage. des vagues frappent

le palais, à croire que

personne n’a jamais encore

été couché dans la mer,

regardé les nuages, et dit :

voilà ce que je veux être.

voilà ce que je veux être quand il fera nuit.
