Sigurgleði

 

Bóndi ekur vígreifur
um sveitina
með dauða tófu á húddinu

Hann sat um grenið
inni í jeppanum
svo dýrið fyndi bara
lykt af bensíni
ekki manni

Enginn minnist á
Akkiles eða Hektor
og sjálf get ég
setið á mér

The farmer drives gloating
through the district
vixen dead on the hood

He laid siege to her lair
in his jeep
so the animal smelt
the stench of petrol
not man

No one mentions
Achilles or Hector
and I know how to
hold my tongue

Le fermier conduit exultant
Traversant la région
Une renarde morte sur le capot

Il a assiégé son terrier
Dans sa jeep
De sorte que l’animal
Ait seulement une odeur d’essence
Pas d’homme

Personne ne parle
d’Achille ou d’Hector
Et je sais garder mon calme

Een boer rijdt brooddronken
over het land
met een dode vos op de motorkap

Hij lag op de loer
in zijn jeep
zodat het dier alleen
de lucht van benzine zou ruiken
geen mensenlucht

Niemand herinnert zich
Achilles of Hector nog
en zelf kan ik maar net
mijn kalmte bewaren
