Jan (Yan) Marquis is native of Guernsey, he learnt Guernesiais as a second language from close family and friends and has since become involved in its teaching, promotion, and research, he also consults on the language. In 2008 he moved from a career in IT to become Guernsey’s first Language Support Officer employed by the States of Guernsey. Yan is also a published author on Guernesiais, and accredited with the Bailiwick of Guernsey Guild of Accredited Guides.

Jan (Yan) Marquis est originaire de Guernesey, il a appris le guernesiais comme deuxième langue auprès de sa famille proche et de ses amis et s'est depuis impliqué dans son enseignement, sa promotion et sa recherche, il consulte également sur la langue. En 2008, il a quitté une carrière dans l'informatique pour devenir le premier fonctionnaire délélgué du guernesiais employé par les États de Guernesey. Yan est également un auteur publié sur le guernesiais et accrédité auprès de la Guilde des Guides Accrédités du Bailliage de Guernesey.
