Poems
Trudie Shannon is a Guernsey born poet and artist. She started writing poetry aged nine and has never stopped. Her poetry is founded upon her emotional responses to her world and the diverse things that populate it. Trudie writes open verse so there are no restrictions, no boundaries. She writes when moved to do so. By a situation, an event, a person/people, nature. She describes herself as a storyteller dressed as a poet. Trudie says the first line often comes into her head and she then pursues it. It may take minutes, hours or days until that initial line evolves into a fully fledged poem. She does not write simply by choice but by necessity. She breathes, she writes, she paints. Trudie has published two collections of her work: Beside The Water and Between The Tides both combining words and images. She has been both long listed and shortlisted for the Bridport prize and has performed/read her work in Guernsey and on local radio, in the UK and in France, the latter as part of an art collective.
Trudie Shannon est une poète et artiste née à Guernesey. Elle a commencé à écrire de la poésie à l'âge de neuf ans et n'a jamais cessé depuis. Sa poésie est fondée sur les
émotions liee à son monde et aux diverses choses qui le peuplent. Trudie écrit des vers libres sans restriction sans frontières. Elle écrit quand elle l’envie l’en prend. Par une
situation, un événement, une personne/des gens, la nature. Elle se décrit comme une conteuse déguisée en poète. Trudie dit que la première ligne lui vient à l'esprit et qu’elle la
poursuit. Cela peut prendre quelques minutes, des heures ou des jours avant que cette ligne initiale évolue en un poème à part entière. Elle n’écrit pas simplement par choix mais par
nécessité. Elle respire, elle écrit, elle peint. Trudie a publié deux recueils de son travail : Beside The Water et Between The Tides combinant tous deux des mots et des images. Elle a été présélectionnée pour le prix Bridport et a joué / lu son travail à Guernesey et à la radio locale, au Royaume-Uni et en France, cette dernière dans le cadre d'un collectif artistique.
