With more than 500 performances in over 15 countries, Katharina Wenty (*1995, Korneuburg) is one of the most internationally successful slam poets in the German-speaking world. As a filmmaker, she has already been part of several short film festivals, as well as a winner of - among others - the Media Literacy Award, the Zeit:impuls Short Film Award. In 2018, she won the title of Poetry Slam National Champion for Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland and was a finalist at the European Poetry Slam Championship in Budapest. She has been publishing since the age of 18, and in 2022 her book Hautflügelmieder, funded by a grant from the City of Vienna, was published by Lektora Verlag. Her interdisciplinary women's ensemble Lingua:Lyra, which combines historical music with modern poetry, not only won the HUGO Award for new concert formats in 2023, but also the Playground Competition of the HfM Detmold and its Diversity Award. As chairwoman of Poetry slam'md - Verein für Bühnenkunst, Literatur und Jugendkultur (Association for Stage Art, Literature and Youth Culture), she organises and moderates monthly poetry slams with an international focus in and outside Vienna. She also co-curates and moderates the Art Visuals & Poetry Film Festival, the second largest poetry film festival worldwide.
