Sissal KAMPMANN

Sissal Kampmann was born in 1974 in Vestmanna, Faroe Islands. She has a Master of Arts in Nordic Literature and Modern Culture from the University of Copenhagen. She made her publishing debut in 2011 with the poetry collection, Ravnar á ljóðleysum flogi – Yrkingar úr uppgongdini (“The Silent Flight of Ravens – Poems from the Stairway”), which became an instantaneous success and critics deemed the work to be exceptionally strong for a debut poet. She is the first Faroese poet to have been awarded the prestigious Klaus Rifbjerg’s debutant prize in poetry, which she received from the Danish Literary Academy in 2012.
