Maya Bejerano est l’une des voix majeures de la poésie israélienne contemporaine. Née en 1949 en Israël, elle est diplômée de littérature et philosophie de l’université Bar Ilan et vit à Tel Aviv. Son œuvre a été couronnée de nombreux prix, dont le prestigieux Prix Bialik, en 2002.
Le poème « Les mots » a été publié en hébreu aux éditions Hakibbutz Hameuchad et traduit en français par l’écrivain Esther Orner pour son Anthologie des poétesses israéliennes « Chacune a un nom », parue aux éditions Caractères.
